Steamboat Springs Skiing
Steamboat Springs is located in the state of Colorado and is one of the most popular ski resorts in the world. Steamboat Springs skiing is recommended for both beginner and advanced skiers. There have been quite a few Olympic skiers to come from Steamboat Springs, because skiing is such a popular sport in this town. Along with the great slopes, you are sure to love the various dining establishments, stores, night spots and other attractions found here. The town has a decidedly Old West feel to it and is a fun place to visit and a top place to ski.
There are 2965 acres covered with snow at this resort. One of the most fascinating facts about Steamboat Springs is that it encompasses an entire mountain range. The mountains found here are as follows: Christie Peak, Pioneer Ridge, Mt. Werner, Storm Peak, Sunshine Peak and Thunderhead Peak. These mountains have something for everyone. One popular feature is the Champagne Powder you'll find here. The term Champagne Powder was first used in Steamboat Springs and is the only resort to boast this fantastic variety of snow.
Many skiers enjoy the gladed areas of Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak and Pioneer Ridge. Snowboarders will surely enjoy the Mavericks Superpipe which spans 500 feet in length and 56 feet in width. There is also a terrain park located on more than 11 acres that features a fantastic outdoor sound system and a variety of jumps for all skill levels. If you are a skier who has never tried snowboarding, you should consider at least giving this fairly new winter sport a try. You can rent all the equipment you need from the resort if you do not have your own. There are also plenty of classes available for those who want to learn to ski and/or snowboard.
Advanced skiers will definitely want to check out the longest run at the resort which is a three mile run named Why Not. If that doesn't tickle your fancy one of the other 165 named trails surely will. Because Steamboat Springs skiing is so incredible, you will definitely want to spend as long as you can at the resort. There are a variety of choices available when it comes to your accommodations. You can choose from luxurious condos, hotels, vacation rental homes, rustic lodges and cozy bed and breakfasts. Steamboat Springs is a premier vacation destination that truly has something for everyone.
