If you want to go skiing in New York, there are several places you may want to consider. There are a variety of fantastic ski resorts in this state, more than most people realize. One top choice located in the western portion of the state is Holiday Valley. This resort features 56 slopes with something for everyone. There are 13 lifts and an incredible snowmaking system. Here you can also go snow tubing and snowboarding in addition to skiing. If you are a beginner you should definitely consider the resort's Snowsports School which offers private and group instruction. The resort boasts great lodges and rooms in which you can stay and even special programs for kids.

Another top resort in New York is Hunter Mountain Resort. This resort is only about two hours from metropolitan New York and offers lots of great features for skiers and snowboarders. There are three mountains that make up this resort and provide great terrain for all skill levels. There are 55 trails, 11 lifts and 240 snow covered acres to enjoy. You will find a nice mixture of beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert slopes. The resort also offers snow tubing, ski and snowboard instruction, and special programs for kids.

In Glenwood you will find the quaint Kissing Bridge ski resort. This resort offers 36 slopes that span 700 snow covered acres. There are nine lifts and two base lodges. Here you will also find two rental shops, a shop for buying ski and snowboard equipment and more. Kissing Bridge also has a tubing park and a variety of fun and instructional programs for children. You will find that although Kissing Bridge is one of the lesser known resorts in New York it is one of the best. This resort is a great destination for the whole family.

For cross country skiing in New York, check out the Byrncliff Resort. This year round resort is a great place to enjoy cross country and even downhill skiing. Byrncliff offers 12 miles of groomed trails and five miles of cross country skiing trails that are even lit up at night for after dark skiing. At this resort you will also find snowshoe rentals and guided tours that encompass the 400 acres of property. As you can see, New York offers a wide variety of appealing resorts for winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy.
